The Novara Centre was set up in 2006 to offer people a variety of options for Health and Well-Being under the one roof. The Novara Centre brings together a large team of professionals whose qualifications, skills and experience ensure that when you chose a service at Novara you can expect high standards. At the same time the atmosphere is friendly, welcoming and person-centred. We are located on Bray Sea-front in a beautifully restored Victorian building which is bright, airy and comfortable where you can enjoy sea-views and the possibility of going for walks and refreshments on the prom before or after an appointment or class at Novara. Our clients come from Bray and Wicklow but also increasingly from Dublin and further afield as we are only minutes from the Dart and Bray is just at the end of the M50. We are delighted to be able to cater for all ages and stages; babies and pre-natal, young child and adolescent to adults of all ages. Our website focuses on our three strands; Therapies, Classes and Integrated Health, letting you know a little about each of the services on offer and also about each of our practitioners. Mother and Baby Yoga

Mum and baby yoga classes at the Novara Centre offer mothers the opportunity to enjoy a nourishing yoga practice, social interaction and relaxation with their babies in the comfort of the centre’s cosy, carpeted yoga room. The classes incorporate classical yoga poses, post-natal exercises and pelvic floor work for mums, as well as stretches, movement and music for babies. Class culminates in a ten-minute massage for babies, followed by relaxation for all. There is also plenty of time for chat, enabling participants to share parenting experiences, offer support to one another and develop new friendships, often solidified over a walk on the prom or a cup of coffee in the many nearby facilities.

The class is suitable for babies from about six weeks after birth.

Pilates teaches awareness of breathing and the proper alignment of the spine, head and shoulder blades. It involves strengthening of the deep intrinsic abdominal muscles, which are particularly important to alleviate and prevent back pain. Some of the benefits of practising Pilates are: that you become stronger, leaner and more able to move with grace and ease. All exercises are developed with modifications that can make a workout safe and challenging for a person at any level. It is recommended by Doctors, Physiotherapists and Chiropractors as one of the safest forms of exercise available. It was developed for the purpose of injury prevention and rehabilitation. Pregnancy Yoga

This class aims to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the expectant mother through a gentle asana, relaxation and meditation practice in a supportive environment.

As well as working toward optimum physical health for pregnancy and labour, participants will be encouraged to prepare mentally and emotionally for birth and beyond.

Teenage Yoga

Benefits of Yoga Classes for Teenagers:Aside from the physical benefits, yoga teaches teens techniques for coping with the unique issues they are faced with everyday—insecurity about their changing bodies, the enormous pressure to fit in, stressful schedules and uncertainty about their beliefs and their futures.Yoga helps build self-esteem, teaches methods of self calming. It helps to focus the mind, increasing the ability to concentrate. The calming effect of yoga classes is hugely beneficial for exam times and other stressful situations. The teenagers of today more than ever require the opportunity to relax and focus inward, while building the strength and flexibility they need to grow and develop fully.Lots of teens who participate in sports usually develop their legs and arms. However, they often overlook flexibility of the spine, back, arms and legs. Yoga stretching poses are highly beneficial in correcting this imbalance and in strengthening muscles that are not used in strength training. The stretching may be difficult at first, but with practice you will become more flexible and the poses will become easier.Yoga promotes unification of body and mind, and as you practice, it will increase your awareness and your ability to look within. This gives our teenage children a chance to believe in themselves and trust their own instinct. Yoga also offers a break from their frantic hectic lives, giving them that hour to unwind and truly relax.

Gentle Yoga

Qi Gong is an ancient form of Chinese healing exercises combining gentle movement, breathing techniques, sound and meditation.

Research has shown that Qi Gong as a health practice has numerous benefits, including:

This is a one hour meditation class where all we have to do is be present! Ideal for new students to mediation and regular practitioners alike- this class will take us on a journey back home to ourselves! Through regular mediation we can learn to unleash our inner wisdom while gaining a powerful tool for relaxation and calmness. This class teaches various mediation methods that allow us to become fully present in our lives

Vinyasa Yoga

This is an energising yoga class with a flowing vinyasa style. As we move through the yoga poses we focus on our breath while maintaining that alignment necessary to get our prana flowing. The class includes pranayama and some meditation. All levels are welcome to join!

  • I co-founded the Novara Centre because of my belief that there are many strands to healing and well-being. Sometimes one approach suits one person at one time and later they need something else, sometimes a combined approach really benefits a client. Also I believe that when we work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, our work is enriched from the opportunities for cross-fertilisation and support.
