Pre & post natal care for mums to be and babies. Caroline specialises in teaching Pregnancy Yoga and is fully qualified to work with expectant mums. She loves the journey from bump to baby and supporting mums to be through this magical time in their lives. Her pregnancy yoga classes are active, fun and informative and anyone can join. She also teaches Active Birth Workshops, Post Natal and Mum & Baby Yoga

Pregnancy Yoga

Yoga is a wonderful way to to enjoy your Pregnancy, whilst preparing for Labour. It improves backache, increases stamina and awareness of breath and is deeply relaxing for both Mum and Baby.

The class starts with deep breathing and relaxation to centre you both, followed by warm up techniques and a Sun Salutation esp. designed for Pregnancy. Then we practice various postures and movements to help increase fluidity in the spine, relieve tension in the hips, pelvis and lower back, open up the chest and shoulders and strengthen the arms and legs. The exercises and breath work will help prepare you for labour and beyond and increase your confidence in your body’s ability to birth your baby with as much ease as possible. There is a huge emphasis on breathing throughout the class to keep your mind focused and relaxed and to release tension and stress. The breath has an essential role during labour to open up the birth canal, increase dilation and helps you to stay focussed and relaxed.

The class includes an emphasis on the pelvic floor muscles, introducing exercises to help keep good tone and improve circulation in your pelvic floor. Attention to this muscle group is extremely important during and after pregnancy and a wonderful way to prepare for birthing your baby.

Then to finish we focus on deep breathing techniques for Pregnancy and Labour and relaxation for both Mum and Baby.

No previous yoga experience is necessary and you can come after your first trimester; in your second or third, it’s never too late to start. Please bring a blanket for relaxation with you.

Ante Natal Birthing Workshops

Ante Natal Birthing workshops are to empower you and your partner throughout late pregnancy, the birth process and what to expect when your baby arrives.

This workshop is ideal for women in their last trimester and their partners. It gives you both an idea of what to expect in hospital, how to cope with and relax in the different stages of labour and how to feel empowered no matter what birth you have.

The Ante Natal Birthing workshop includes:

The last few weeks of pregnancy and what to do if you are overdue
Packing your hospital bag – the essentials to bring with you.
Maximise time at home before going in to the hospital.
The anatomy and physiology of birth and the different stages of labour.
How to use breath, relaxation and visualisation in labour to tap into your pain relieving hormones and reduce any stress in hospital.
How to relax and move into different labour and birth positions.
Interventions, the benefits and risks and how to stay positive and active throughout them.
The Partners role – ideas to support and encourage your partner through labour and how to feel useful!
Massage for labour
Connecting with your new born baby and feeding options.
The workshop includes handouts and refreshments. The course is run every 8 weeks on a Saturday, 2.00 p.m. – 5.30 p.m. Venue is in Thrive Pilates Studio in Greystones.

Price: €95 per couple (max 10 couples per workshop)

Baby massage is a wonderful way to learn how to massage and connect with your baby and it has amazing benefits for everyone involved.

It started with the founder of IAIM (International Association of Infant Massage) Vimala Mc Clure, who travelled to India in the 1970's. While she was visiting an orphanage, she saw a woman massaging her baby and was inspired by the benefits it had on the child and mother alike.

So she went back home to States and developed the strokes for Infant Massage using her knowledge of Indian and Swedish Massage, Reflexology and Yoga. Shortly after that she founded the IAIM, which after 30 years is now in 50 countries.

The benefits for the baby include stimulating, relaxing, pain relief and interraction/bonding. It is wonderful for colic, constipation and wind, it aids deeper and longer sleep, relieves stress and anxiety after birth and it encourages a deep bond between baby and parent.

For you it is a great way to learn more about your baby's yes and no cues, it increases your confidence in handling and comforting your baby, reduces stress and most importantly it allows you to bond with and nurture your baby while having fun!

The classes are broken down into one hour sessions over a four week period. Each week we cover a different part of your baby's body, whilst having discussions on relevant topics. There are up to seven parents and babies there and it's a great way to meet other parents and share ideas and stories. Dads are very welcome.

Group classes are held in Greystones and Wicklow Town Co. Wicklow and one to one classes, in the comfort of your own home available in South Co Dublin and Co Wicklow.

Most health insurance companies allow you to claim the cost of these classes back so you can get them for free! Please check with your health insurance company to see if your plan covers this.

Mum and Baby Yoga

Mum & Baby Yoga Classes

Mum and Baby Yoga classes are for women who have given birth recently and are looking for a fun and relaxed yoga class where they can bring their baby along too. The classes help Mums to gently ease them back into shape, get a great stretch and have fun with their baby. It is also very social, where you can listen to other Mums advice and tips, learn some yoga for you and your baby and start to strengthen your pelvic floor and stomach muscles and relieve tension in your back.

You don’t need to bring anything with you, just wear comfortable clothes. Come after you and your baby’s six week check up and let your Gp know you are attending the classes.
Post Natal Yoga Classes are also available. These are a wonderful way for new mums to get some much needed time out for themselves. Benefits include strengthening core and tummy muscles, easing posture and backache, toning legs, bum, arms and pelvic floor and is deeply relaxing.

  • about caroline Caroline has been working with Mums to be and Babies since 2005. She loves teaching pregnancy yoga and helping mums to be to relax and really enjoy and feel supported in this precious time in their lives. She also runs Active Birth Workshops so the partners can get really involved in the whole process of their baby arriving and feel like they have a very important role to play on the journey of becoming parents! Then when the babies arrive she teaches Baby Massage Classes, Mum & Baby Yoga and Post Natal Yoga, all classes are very relaxed, informative and supportive and are a great way for new mums to get together. Babies have fun too and the classes help to relieve baby's colic, wind and induce longer sounder sleep. She is a qualified Yoga Alliance 200Hr (RYT 200) instructor having completed a Hatha Yoga Diploma from the Yoga Vidya Gurukul in Nashik, India. She went on to further specialize in Pregnancy Yoga and trained with Birthlight & The Elbowroom in Pregnancy and Post Natal Yoga. She has recently trained with Rainbow Kids in Kids Yoga. Caroline gave birth to a beautiful baby boy in October 2009 and two gorgeous baby girls in December 2011 and March 2014, she found all the movements, breath work and positivity from Yoga invaluable in guiding her through her pregnancies, labours and in becoming a very busy new mum of three!
